WHAT FIRST INTRIGUED YOU ABOUT THE BAR/SPIRITS INDUSTRY?

I was first intrigued by the industry when I visited a local distillery in Seattle and saw the awesome, creative cocktails they were coming up with.

WHY ARE YOU EXCITED TO DO ANOTHER BOX FOR AMERICAN COCKTAIL CLUB

I loved using their delicious ingredients to create a seasonal cocktail for people to share with their families.

We have partnered with the American Cocktail Co. again this year to design their December American Cocktail Club subscription box just in time for Christmas, and they are offering 10% off our box for first time purchases with the code “BEAUTIFULBOOZE10”. We created the Smoky Sidecar, and with our subscription box you can too, everything you need to make it at home is in the box. Just CLICK HERE to choose your subscription and you can be mixing some Smoky Sidecar’s at your holiday party!

The classic Sidecar cocktail is an awesome drink that really showcases products people aren't always used to at home and makes then experiment a little outside of the norm. The mezcal really works well with the brandy, bringing a slightly earthy note to the cocktail as well as a little smokiness. Using an espadín mezcal adds in some bright, fresh citrus and lemongrass notes which pair deliciously with the American Cocktail Club Spicy Ginger Mule.

I really wanted to use brandy as the base for this as it is a product that has lost some love over the years, as it seems people think it is only for older people, however, a it can really work well in a cocktail and after tasting the Spicy Ginger Mule mix from American Cocktail Club I knew they were made to be together. The cocktail already had plenty of bite, but it was missing a little something so I mixed in some lemon juice to balance everything out and we were all set.

Recipe:

    Method:

    1. Cover ⅓ of the glass rim with demerara sugar
    2. Combine liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice
    3. Shake to chill and combine ingredients
    4. Fine strain into cocktail glass
    5. Garnish & Enjoy!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE COCKTAIL YOU CREATED THIS MONTH:

This is a spin on the classic Sidecar Cocktail. I thought it was the perfect cocktail to create with the Spicy Ginger Mule and by adding mezcal it became a little smoky. It is designed to remind the imbiber of sitting by the fireplace with their family drinking a spicy tonic.

WHAT ARE YOUR ESSENTIAL TOOLS FOR THE HOME BAR? DO YOU RECOMMEND MOST PEOPLE STOCK THESE AT THEIR HOME BAR?

There are so many items I recommend for a home bar but the primary ones would be some beautiful cocktail picks, a sharp knife and a tea strainer.
